Fireworks and Gas Prices..Holiday Travelers will just Bite the Bullet.

As many of us finish final preparations for the Fourth of July holiday, travels are casting a wary eye on gas prices. The recently released AAA report gives us a heads up on what to expect.

Released on June 26th, the AAA report suggests that despite still high gas prices and the fact that the fourth of July holiday falls midweek, approximately 41.1 million Americans will be traveling anyway, an increase over the number that traveled last year at this time. The report projects that at least 34.7 million of those travelers will be on the road in automobiles.

In addition to higher gas prices, these travelers will also be paying slightly more for hotels and car rentals as well. Interestingly enough, however prices for airfare have fallen over 12% compared to prices in 2006.

Although gas prices have decreased slightly over the last couple of weeks, some areas of the nation are still seeing prices over $3.00 a gallon. According to AAA, the lower prices early in the week may have influenced many of the travelers to hit the road.

Those filling their tanks during the holiday will probably be paying an average of about $2.97 per gallon. That price is actually almost 24 cents less than it was last month but still 13 cents higher than it was last year at this time.

The data provided by AAA is yet another example of the fact that regardless of how much it costs, Americans will not abandon their plans nor their vehicles.
